hey!

I’m working on a small project in Godot and needed a bunch of quick prototype sprites for testing. So I let AI built a little tool that lets an AI assistant draw and animate directly in Aseprite. It worked well enough for me that I thought some of you might find it useful too. I did not test it extensively, so please use it with caution and only if you know what you are doing. Also, I only tested it with Claude CLI(Other AI’s should work when they allow a MCP connection to a local server) on a Linux machine (Fedora), but it should work on Windows and Macs as well. For now you need to keep the MCP Bridge window open for the connection.

I know it’s a very controversial topic, but sadly, it’s our new reality (which I hate). I wish people would use a tool like that only for prototyping and still buy assets from, e.g., [itch.io](http://itch.io), or hire an artist if possible. I definitely think AI won’t create something as creative and good looking as a real artist can. But since pixel art AI’s are already reality i think people will go that route anyway. Sorry for the slop.

Finished output

**What it does**

It’s an MCP server (Model Context Protocol) plus an Aseprite extension. Once connected, the assistant can:

- create sprites and set exact pixels
- use Aseprite’s tools (line, rectangle, ellipse, bucket, curve, freehand …)
- manage layers and animation frames
- look at its own result and improve it
- undo/redo – everything ends up in Aseprite’s normal undo history
