UPDATE: As of 1.2.18 i no longer have “frame rate” lag when using the pencil or eraser. I still have bad lag when using the marquee tools (all of them except magic lasso), line tool, and all shape tools. They start to lag around a 500 - 600px selection size for me.
I’ve changed to Arch Linux 5.6.6-arch1-1.
My other PC specs are still the say, but I’ll add that I have a GTX 970 GPU since I forgot that one.
OLD MESSAGE:
I’m using Aseprite 1.2.11-x64 on Antergos Linux (really just Arch Linux with an easy installer) and every time I use a tool the whole program lags hard (maybe 1 frame every 1 - 2 seconds), which makes it very hard to do large operations.
On the drawing tools (pencil, eraser, line…) the lag is significantly worse when zoomed in close, and better when zoomed out.
On the selection tools (rectangle marquee, elliptical marquee, …) the lag seems worse when zoomed out and it’s worse on larger selection sizes.
Also note, I am NOT experiencing mouse lag. The only lag that happens is when I use a tool.
