Maybe this is already a thing and I’m just not pressing the right buttons but it would be nice to have the preview zoom separate from the canvas so you can work on something in 1x scale and see it as 2x scale in preview.
good news, there is preview window. hit f7 or go to view -> preview
you can zoom in and out in preview window with mouse wheel.

You can also use the 1/2/3/4/etc. numbers above the preview window.
