when I press spacebar on the project file on macOS, I hope it will shows a preview of the content like any other media format such as .jpg .mp4 and so on.
F7 will open a preview window that i often just leave running, if you have tags on your frames it will only play the frames in that tag.
alternatively to play the animation in your main view if you prefer that, the Enter key will run your animation in the main view.
I think @songz_meng is talking about Finder preview on macOS:
Instead of showing the Aseprite document icon, we should show a preview of the image.

Not to revive ancient topics, but has this found itself on the roadmap at any point? 
I mean the .aseprite file icon is cute for sure, but it does get kinda old to look at…
