(This is my first topic, so feel free to offer constructive criticism)
I was inspired by Blender to ask for this feature. In Blender, every project starts with a plain cube. What if we did something like that for Aseprite?
There could be three different preset settings for the box templates, and you could change your preference in the settings.
The three presets I think would be the most helpful would be:
- Isometric cube
- Cube that has a 2/3 ratio of the top of the cube to the side of it (33% percent of the cube’s height being of the top of it, and 66% being the side)
- Cube that has a 1/4 ratio of the top of the cube to the side of it. (25% percent of the cube’s height being of the top of it, and 75% being the side)
I can see how this would be hard to implement with different canvas sizes. I think that for scalability, the cube should be lineless. I think that the height of the template cube should be solely based on the height of the canvas, and be unaffected by the width. I know that this would mean that it would be more accurate to call the template cube a rectangular prism, but for the purpose of brevity, I will still be referring to all instances of the template cube a cube instead of a rectangular prism.
For implementing different sizes of box, I think that the side’s ratio should round up, and the top’s should round down.
Alternatively, to start off, rounded template cubes could come in these heights:
- 16
- 32
- 64
- 100
