Changing the Backgound Design?

Hi, I pretty much just started using Aseprite today. I used PaintDotNet (not a link) before, and the software overall seems really nice. I just have one small “issue” so far.

The transparent background in PaintDotNet is a static, very small-scale image of a checkerboard pattern behind the canvas, which is revealed as the transparent canvas hovers above it. This makes sense to me. Reference Image (32p x 16p)

In Aseprite, the transparent background just acts as a layer 0 with an immutable checkerboard where every color covers a 16x16 area, which can make working with these colors rather difficult (which became apparent when I was modifying the Sheet.png, which uses these shades excessively). Same Reference Image in Aseprite

PS: I originally posted this on Steam, and have since found that you can easily change the dimensions and color of the background checkerboard, which is very nice. However, I would still like to ask if there is any way to change the transparent background design so that it doesn’t move with the canvas?

Edit: As it is technically encouraged to state, I use the most recent Steam version under Win10

For what I understood, I believe you want to change the color of the background or the size of the checkered pattern? If so you can go to edit>preferences>background, an you have there everything background-related you can change.

That much I have found since originally posting this, now I’m just grasping at straws in wondering if you can, (since I don’t know how else to describe this) ‘detach’ the background from the canvas, so that it remains in place even when the canvas gets moved or rescaled.
Though I don’t really expect this feature to exist.

Yeah I don’t think its possible. But I might be wrong
