Just after pasting an image, if you switch to Color picker (I) and pick a color from a pixel on the pasted image itself, it will go “through” and pick the color behind.
Press Escape and you can finally “confirm” the paste and then color pick on the pasted image.
Thanks for this report. Currently, it is normal behavior. When you paste an image, the just pasting image is in a “transform state” and it’s not yet written to the layer. Anyway, this might get confusing like you said, so I’ll create an issue about it.
OK, thank you. I tried it again and sometimes I manage to pick the color from the pasted picture (after moving it in a certain way maybe?), so this made it even more confusing to me. When you create the issue, could you post the link here? I will then mark your reply as Solution (unless you want to keep this thread open as a double-tracking for people not using GitHub a lot).
