Custom Brushes - avoid colour data?

Hi all. Unsure if this is a bug or a missing feature. I’m on v1.3.17.2-x64 for Mac OS.

I’m trying to make custom dither brushes and run into trouble. I drew the dither shapes, selected them (two dots, two transparent pixels in a 4x4 selection) and selected them, then pressed CMD+B. This said the new brush was made and after a moment that was confirmed.

I clicked on the brush in the drop down list and selected ‘Save Brush Here’ to store it. When I closed Aseprite and re-opened, all saved brushes reverted back to being a regular brush without any pattern settings. A reinstall of aseprite fixed this. This just seemed like a bug.

Query 1:

However, I’ve run into another problem and I don’t know if it’s a bug or just not been considered yet - now that my brushes save, I can click through them, but each pattern has the colour built in, whereas for dithering I would like the colour data to be retained from the previous brush. I unlock the brushes, try to untick ‘Image Colour’ and tick ‘Foreground Colour’. After saving my brush amends, none of those changes are sticking.

Is it not possible to create a patterned dither brush that keeps the colour settings from the previous brush?

**Query 2:
**
Is there any way to have a dither brush with a of 2x2 pattern, but make the brush bigger not have the pattern scale up with the brush size?

Thanks,

It is possible for brushes to ignore their initialized color. The brush needs to be saved with none of the color options selected.

I don’t think changing the size of pattern brushes is possible, but I could be mistaken.

So simple, yet I just couldn’t figure it out. Thank you!

Does anybody here have any ideas for query 2? Dither pattern size scaling up with brush - other than making a load of brushes.
