There should be a setting to allow converting simple color palettes into a .gpl and .json file that can be added through the “Extensions” setting in the preferences. Maybe by creating a “Personalized Palette” section to store user made palettes inside of Aseprite, instead of the options to “load palette” from the “options” button inside of the color palette windows tab (to reduce the time spent looking for personal created palette files). These “Personalized Palette” files can be filled out by creating a section inside of “General” tab in “Preferences”. Inside this section the user could fill out the needed information inside of text fields for the creation of .gpl and .json files that can be converted into a .zip file and then into their own “Personalized Palette” and then added into the “Personalized Palette” section. The user could assign their name, displayname, description, version, author (“name” & “URL”), publisher, categories, contributes, palettes (“id” & “path”) to these text fields for creation of the .json files. The creation of .gpl files can also be done with a similar fashion, except “GIMP Palette” will be preset and unchangeable (if necessary), while there can also be user defined text fields for applying comments. After the user has created a “Personalized Palette” inside the software, they could then save the users palettes color values into the .gpl file, using a “save as Palette Bundle” option inside the “Options” button inside the color palettes window. With this the user can then easily create personalized palettes using Aseprite itself, instead of a text editor like visual studio, that can then be added to their own personalized palettes section via “Extensions”. Also adding a “Personalized” button option to the color palettes window tab, to allow to access their own custom created palettes just like the “Preset” button does.
Applying this would make palette creation more manageable, without having to rely on other existing software.
