A little late, but with v1.3-beta7 I have experienced that problem, normally I just do ctrl + s, close the program and turn off the PC, but when I turn it on, sometimes the file disappears, sometimes it is ‘’ recover files ‘’ ,sometimes not, it’s getting on my nerves.
Yesterday I saved manually, made sure the progress had been saved, rebooted my PC and * pam * disappeared.
Where are you saving your files? It sounds like you might be saving them to some volatile directory that gets cleared on reboot.
Aseprite’s not going to delete your files. If they’re saved (as you made sure) and only disappear after a reboot, then I’d be surprised if this was Aseprite’s fault.
I’m having this issues on v1.3.15.4. I can confirm that aseprite is deleting my files. It has happened multiple times (but not to all my files, ones I’ve been working on for a long time). I sent my logs to customer support and they confirmed there is a problem with missing saves.
Hi @Randi_Cohn, we are not aware of a problem about Aseprite losing files. Are you saving your files? Aseprite doesn’t have an “auto save” feature, you have to save your files, and in a case of last resource, we offer a “data recovery” process, but you shouldn’t be depending on that process to save your work daily.
Generally you should use Ctrl+S or File > Save your files in a specific location, and as a personal recommendation you could save your sprites in some Dropbox-like folder (as we don’t give cloud-based storage).
