Hi all! I would like to report either a bug or a feature not working as expected. In the gif below, I am free drawing a line using the brush tool. As you can see, the very first pixel of the stroke is a different color than what I have selected.
Extra details:
- I’m using Steam Aseprite
- I am not participating in any betas
- I couldn’t find the Aseprite version through Steam but it shows Build ID 16493837 and “Installed content updated” on Nov 26
- I am running macOS Sonoma 14.14.1 on Apple Silicon
- The unexpected color happens to be my canvas background color
- This occurs whether or not I have the Shading setting on Ink selected
I tried restarting the program, and the problem seemed to go away; I made 2 brush strokes in the expected color. Then, I adjusted the color using the HSV pane and the issue returned with the first pixel of a stroke being in the dark color (and, interestingly, the color of all the other pixels looked off/too dark, too). I think it’s possible I may just have some brush setting on that I don’t understand.
UPDATE: Setting the background color to transparent fixed the issue, though I still don’t understand what setting I have on that causes that first pixel to take on the background color if anyone can help. Thank you!
FINAL UPDATE: I believe I figured this out. Apologies as it was not a bug in the end! This was my first time in a while using Aseprite with a tablet pen and not a computer mouse, and so I think what was happening was the pressure sensitivity of the pen was translating into lighter/darker colors in the strokes. Using the Simple Ink setting was what I needed.
