one more thing post stuff like this in the help category, you might get more feedback sooner.

I am also a beginner (like a bit more experienced than a beginner) and this is how i started.
firstly start practicing objects with simple shapes on a 16x16 canvas. like donuts, 8ball pool balls, fruits, etc. If you feel like you got a hang of it then move on to a slightly bigger canvas. If you get hang of that as well start making simple sceneries with pixel art like not complicated ones but simple ones. A great way to do this is to search “vector art sceneries” on google/pintrest and recreating them but in pixel art. Here’s on the recreations i made

as you see this isnt an exact copy of the vector art as i was experimenting some of my own styles on this one, so i would recommend you doing the same

hello, newbie here. also would love to see some very easy to follow guides like tutorial videos. i want to make animated sprites i can export with transparency that i can add on top of videos for a YT channel later on…
later maybe even make game art, since i am rediscovering basic programming

You’re lucky i am here, heres all the resources i used when i started out, not a lot of videos, theres plenty out there, thought, most are threads:

Pixel Joint Forum: The Pixel Art Tutorial - a basics guide

Pixel Joint Forum: COLORING “I dont get it” - useful palette making fundamentals

Dithering for Pixel Artists - Pixel Parmesan - a dithering guide

https://saint11.art/ - this guy is an artist that worked on Celeste and Tower Fall, he has a absolute beggineers guide and a series of more specialized tutorial gifs for specific things, very useful visual aids.

Pixel Art Tutorials - The complete Pixelblog catalogue — SLYNYRD - another series of small gif tutorials for specific topics.

Finally, if you have cash to spare, i HIGHLY recommend getting the game Pixel Art Academy: Learn Mode, its not complete just yet, but it will guide by hand throughout most these topics in a relly easy to digest manner, like a low stakes course of sorts, it also includes projects in retro software to see some of your things moving, its a joy to play and relly easy to learn.

cheers mate
