Import spritesheet + animations JSON into Aseprite

A commonly used way to export animations for a game development software is to export a spritesheet (png) an an animations file (json).

But is there any way to import these (sprites + animations) back into Aseprite? I’d expect Aseprite to be able to easily import something that was exported by it.

This seems like it would be a very useful feature, but I’ve looked around and I can’t find options or even a community post about it.

[EDIT: To be clear, I’d save my own animated sprites as .ase files, but these are not mine and I only have access to the .png and .json files.]

^ Did you look into this script? From the description alone it seems like it’s the same use case as you described.
