Layer selection from image

Is there any way to easily select a layer without having to find the layer in the layer list and select it there?

I can’t seem to select it any other way.

hi there. either toggle on “auto select layer” for move tool:

or hit ctrl (which will toggle that option temporarily) and click on the area in the image to select the layer.
