Updated my computer to the latest MacOS release (13.0 Ventura - using the v1.3 beta on Steam) and the program will no longer open - a System Notification pops up stating “the application is damaged and should be moved to the trash”. Tested on v1.2.9 as well.

Some users reported that they are unable to launch Aseprite through Steam due to… an error "Aseprite is corrupted and cannot be opened...
At the moment, a workaround is to downgrade MacOS OS version.

I’m not a Mac user and can’t provide more help. I’m only relaying that the devs are aware of it and pointing to where there could be more information.

This issue should be fixed now on Steam:
Due a new issue with macOS Ventura, we’ve made some changes to Aseprite packages on Steam.
If you see the following popup when you try to run Aseprite on macOS, it’s highly probably that you’ve updated your system to macOS 13.0 Ventura. Just press “Move to Trash” button:

Then re-start Steam, and press the Launch button on Aseprite, you might see an error like this:
