so I made a kind of scuffed running animation for my OC, im looking for feed back on how to make this animation look better while keeping the jolly, animated run he has. any tips?
Please up the sprite size when posting… We can barely see this.
If I had to give a critique, it would be that your character lacks weight, and I can’t see the full motion of one of the feet. You can create larger smear frames to help with the smooth motion that you want to be fast and noticeable. The head almost seems disconnected as well. It could be good for the head to bounce diagonally.
I know it was small but I didn’t know how to size it up, I already used export to twitter. and thanks for your info. also the head is supposed to be disconnected as a part of the character, like the feet
I meant disconnected as in not of one motion.
I made an updated version of my OC slpook running. I’m looking for anyway to make the bobbing (mainly the head) look better. also any tips on how to give him weight? I don’t entirely know what it means.
also yes I know the eye isn’t centered I will fix that after I finish the animations. note: the gray parts on the side are hands.
ahh ok, that makes sense, sorry about that
Head looks better already. Thanks for the bigger image.
First of all try to get the loop smooth so viewer wouldn’t know which frame is the first and which is the last. After this try to move the head simple to up and down in one arch through the animation.
This works for humans but this character looks like a little golem. That considered the head does not look too bad. It does not to be humanlike. The body bounce also works and looks great.
The character could use some hands and for the feet try to keep the shadowed one behind the character all times to create depth to them.
Other than that it looks great already. I think you have all the keyframes in, just needs tweaking.
thanks a bunch I was really stuck on the head bobbing right now, and when you say add some hand do you mean add movement to the hands? cause there are already hands on it
everything inside the green outlines are the hands, also the green outline is not a part of the hands its just on the edge. also im just using the dark foot so I know which is which
Yeah. Movement would make it look like they are separate objects.
