Move Tool Auto Select Layer not working

沒辦法使用auto select layer-有開系統管理員

Hi! I noticed that the “Auto Select Layer” feature in the Move Tool doesn’t seem to work anymore. Even when I click on different elements, it doesn’t switch to the correct layer.

I’ve also tried running the software as administrator, but the issue still happens.

Just wanted to report this in case it’s a bug. Thank you!

I’m using Windows 10 with version 1.3.14-beta1 of the software.

This might be a bug related to the “Compose groups separately” feature. That allows for opacity and blend modes in group layers but causes issues with other functionality. As a temporary workaround, try disabling that feature by going to Edit > Preferences. Then go to the Experimental selection and uncheck the box by the option. Then see if auto select works again.

Hi again!
I tried unchecking “Compose groups separately” under Preferences as suggested, but unfortunately the issue still persists.
The auto-select layer feature in the Move Tool doesn’t work even when I run Aseprite as admin.
Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks a lot for your help!

I don’t have other ideas at the moment. There are a lot of application-wide features that could be turned on or off, and different states of the sprite that could cause issues. Without an .aseprite file, it’s a game of questions three to reproduce the issue.

Meanwhile, one diagnostic tool could be to turn on layer edges (under View > Layer Edges). That way you can see if the square boundary around a layer is larger than it should be (see the blue rectangle around 2 in the example above).

Another diagnostic tool is layer thumbnails, which show you each cel rendered separately. Due to a separate bug with thumbnails at time of writing, they can also show otherwise invisible quirks (see the transparent magenta around the number 1 in the example above).
