Moving/Copying not selection contents, but selections themselves?

In paint.net, the select tool comes in two variants: “Move Selected Pixels” and “Move Selection”.
Move Selected Pixels does exactly what it says, but Move Selection is where things get interesting. It lets you move the selection area itself, without moving its contents.

Here’s it in use. Sorry for the long boring video, it was recorded quickly.

There’s also another feature that lets you copy and paste selections.

Of course, I’m brand new to Aseprite, so if this is already in the program, let me know.

Edit: Found out how to move selections, you just have to drag the edge!

It would be a really useful thing if you could move the selection without moving the contents.
I’ve searched in docs and forums and unfortunately, there’s no instructions on how to do this so I had to do it manually :expressionless:

hi there! you can do that, see the end of OP’s post:
“Edit: Found out how to move selections, you just have to drag the edge!”
alternatively, you can move selection without moving its content by using keyboard:
alt + up / down / left / right arrow to move it by 1px or alt + shift + arrow to move it by 1 tile
