Pasting an outline so that it covers everything beneath

Hey,

I am super new to aseprite, I am trying to paste an outline into another sprite. I have two layers: the background and the sprites. I want to paste the outline so that it partially covers another outline sprite, i.e. the empty space that overlaps the outline beneath would show the background and not the lines of the outline beneath (the lines get all mixed and jumbled). Any ideas on how I can do this?

Edit> Paste Special> Paste as New Layer (or Ctrl+Shift+V hotkey for WIN) from your clipboard.

From there, you can change the layer opacity as well as fade the outlines where you’d like.
