Prefabs/nested images extension for Aseprite

Hello everyone! I’m pretty new here, but I’ve been working in Aseprite for quite a few years!

Recently I was working on a project in which I had to create a new character for the game and make sure it fits the style of the game, as well as make it have the proper size, but copying and pasting the character from its project with multiple layers and frames was really cumbersome, and the reference layers were not flexible enough, so I decided I’ll create my own plugin that imitates Prefabs from Unity in Aseprite!

Here is the Itch.io page for the project Prefabs for Aseprite (you can find the link to github there), it’s free and should be pretty straightforward to use (I hope)

Please let me know if the plugin works for you and feel free to ask if you encounter any issues with it, hope it come in useful for someone!

ok this is sick, and funy since i was tihnking about how cool such a feature would be, definely hope this can be merged into the software itself.

Hi @Woopy, it’s great to see this as an extension. We have long-term plans to integrate something like this but nothing in the near future. We’ve developed an extension some time ago ( GitHub - aseprite/Attachment-System: A system to use tiles as subsprites ) but it’s not being maintained.

All future work integrated in Aseprite will be done through the issues tagged with “composition”

Oh shoot, if I knew such extension already existed, I wouldn’t make one myself  the one I’ve posted above is really simple but it suits my needs and I though it might come in useful for someone
