Timeline akin to 3D apps

Hi there,

Just got Aseprite. I thought it’d be great to have an unlimited timeline whithin which you can move frames freely but for which you don’t have to create every next frame, just decide how long the frame range is and specify the fps, should it be a constant, in a box somewhere close to the timeline.
This is great for figuring out the first timing when doing cycles and actions in general, and also great for retiming, which I envision unnecessarily complicated in Aseprite with its current timeline.
I believe I could just create 24 frames at the beginning of the animation and call it a day, but it feels more natural to have an unmovable timeline where you move the keyframes freely in it.

Please let me know if there’s a shortcut for working like this already, I’m still learning the workflow that fits me best.

See 3d timelines work like that because of easing curves, which are a staple in 3d animation, same thing doest work exacly well in 2d, most 2d animation is made frame by frame , especially pixel art.

However you can change how long to streach a single frame by using linked frames, and you can decide the exact time each frame takes in frame properties.

Skeletons are possible in 2d animation, but you need specific software to animate with that, If you relly like that kind of workflow consider looking into those specific programs, there are a few free ones but most are paid.
