I am not sure which feels the correct length compared to the original version
Both also have blades that feel too fat
Any advice on how to change this?
If you just lengthened the blades and shortened the arm guard like you said it would look much better! As for the lighting I might suggest adding a border using the outline function in Aseprite, other than that it looks functional already!
