Could Someone Help me with Creating a Seamless Animation Loop?

Hello there,

I am new to Aseprite and am having a lot of fun exploring the software. I am working on a pixel art animation and could use some advice on creating a seamless loop.

The animation is of a character running, and I want the movement to feel smooth and natural without any noticeable jumps or interruptions at the loop point. I have managed to create a rough draft of the animation; but the transition between the last frame and the first frame does not feel as seamless as I would like.

Are there any techniques or best practices for ensuring that the last frame aligns perfectly with the first?

Would you recommend using onion skinning throughout the process, or are there other tools in Aseprite that I should consider?

Also, I have gone through this post; https://community.aseprite.org/t/how-to-make-layers-have-independent-looping-animations-salesforce-marketing which definitely helped me out a lot.

Is there a way to preview the animation as a loop directly in Aseprite? If so; how can I best utilize this feature to spot inconsistencies?

Thanks in advance for your help and assistance. :innocent:

idk if you’ve done this but I when I have problems looping animation seamlessly this is what I do

make the end frame about to step into the start frame, so for example, the start frame would be the front foot on the ground, and the end frame would be the front foot about to step on the ground. if you do this then you’d need to have the left foot step before the end, so front foot steps, left foot steps, right foot almost steps, in that order. I hope this helps
